Media GuidelinesGeneral guidelinesThe Office of Communication & Public Affairs is your conduit to the access you need to make your stories, TV programs, radio spots or photographs as authoritative and interesting as possible. We urge you to contact us as a first point of reference for any assignment that involves the School of Medicine. The more lead-time we have, the better the access we can provide. But when deadlines are tight, we make every effort to get you the information and experts you need. Please call (650) 723-6911 or contact specific representatives from our office (see contacts). Print guidelinesPlease call us as soon as you have a story that involves the School of Medicine. The sooner we know your needs, the better our capability to connect you with a researcher, physician or faculty member who can provide an authoritative interview before your deadline. Even if you already have direct contact information, calling us first will allow us to provide additional background, faster contact options and additional experts if your first choice is unavailable. We maintain and continuously update an experts list; we may be able to connect you with an authority you previously did not know about. Key contacts: TV/Video guidelinesIn all cases, camera crews must first receive permission from our office before taping or broadcasting on medical center grounds. Our representatives can help guide a video crew, including lighting and sound technicians, through the process of setting up a video shoot. We can help you determine where to set up and make the necessary arrangements with security officers. With prior notice, we can also arrange for a camera crew to attend a medical procedure, tape a live event or conduct interviews. Key contact: Radio guidelinesSchool researchers and faculty members can be made available for radio taping or live broadcasts. Radio spots can also be recorded from the campus. Our staff can ensure that radio shows get the best possible access and interviews, but prior permission must be obtained. Key contact: Photography guidelinesWe are happy to assist photographers in getting original shots of the medical center and its faculty, staff and physicians when appropriate. Please call us to arrange for a photo shoot. Photographs of the medical center for publication are not allowed without prior permission from our office. We are also able to provide up-to-date photographs from our archives of researchers, faculty members and staff. These files can be e-mailed immediately on short notice. Key contacts: |
